Zaimki - Pronouns

Zaimki są częściami mowy zastępującymi rzeczowniki, używając ich, unikamy wielokrotnego powtarzania rzeczowników:

Zaimki osobowe – personal pronouns – są to zaimki często występujące w roli podmiotu:

I –ja, you –ty, he – on, She – ona, it – ono, we – my, you – wy, they – oni

I like football. Do you have a pen? He has a pen. She is pretty. It isn't a dog, it's a cat. We are from Poland. They are students.

Przymiotniki dzierżawcze – reflexive adjectives – jak wskazuje nazwa, informują o przynależności czegoś do kogos: my – mój, your – twój, his – jego, her – jej, its – jego,jej, our – nasz, your – wasz, their – ich. 

This is my pen.

This is your chair.

Is this his ball?

These are her shoes.

This is our classroom.

Is this your car?

These are their books.

Zaimki dzierżawcze – reflexive pronouns – mine – zaimki te również informują, że coś do kogoś należy, zastępują rzeczowniki: mine - mój, yours – twój, his – jego, hers - jej, ours – nasz, yours –wasz, theirs – ich

This pen is mine.

This chair is yours.

These shoes are hers.

Is this ball his?

This classroom is ours.

Is this car yours?

These books are theirs.

Zaimki osobowe – personal pronouns: występują w przypadku dopełnienia: me – mi, mnie, you – tobie, him – jemu, her – jej, its – jej, jemu, jego, niego, us – nam, you – wam, them – im

I saw you in the church yesterday.

Do you like me?

I gave him a nice present on Christmas. 

He bought her a new car.

Look at this car. I really like its lights.

Could you give us a minute?

Yes, I can give you a minute, but no more than that.

Have you seen them lately?

Zaimki zwrotne – reflexive pronouns: odpowiadają polskiemu znaczeniu się/sobie, a także wskazują, że dana osoba wykonała czynność sama, samodzielnie: me – myself, you – yourself, he – himself, she – herself, it – itself, we – ourselves, you – yourselves, they - themselves

He couldn't do it himself so he asked a friend for help.

I'm sure she didn't write this paper herself.
